The Dental Wellness Trust is involved in many projects revolving around improving oral health of school children in deprived communities in Cape Town.Western Cape Action Group
In January 2012 Dr Greenwall travelled to South Africa where she met the communities within the Khayelitsha Township within Cape Town.
This was the moment the new initiative blossomed inspired by the Dental Wellness Trust.
The LiveSmart project was based on the Fit for School Programme which has been very successful in the Philippines.
The Dental Wellness Trust has taken two aspects of Fit for Life to be applied in South Africa – brushing teeth and washing hands.
It’s a simple One for One: you buy a toothbrush for only 80p, and a new toothbrush will be donated to a child living in a township in South Africa who would otherwise have no access to their own toothbrush.
Buying a toothbrush couldn’t be easier. Either purchase one next time you go to the dentist, or you can buy one right here from our shop.
The Mega Molars projects is a DWT programme aimed at tackling increased rate of tooth decay and poor dental health amongst children in Luton.
The project was started by two dentists, Krina Patel and Sona Bavisha, after having spent a year in Luton as part of their training and were shocked by the number of children they were treating with tooth decay.
At the Dental Wellness Trust we believe that having the right equipment is central for maintaining good oral hygiene.
Therefore, we developed ‘The Dental Wellness Kit’ which contains soap and dental products.
